Caitlyn (Cait) Starcher, LISW (she/her)

Cait is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and received her education at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She first earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and then continued on to receive a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in mental health and substance abuse.

She began her clinical counseling experience in a private practice near OSU and worked mostly with college students. She then worked in community mental health with a wide variety of population and diagnoses, including adolescents and adults. She then worked at a practice that specialized in eating disorder treatment for adults and adolescents, and provided different levels of care, such as partial hospitalization, a specialized 5-day program, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and family therapy.

Cait’s therapeutic approach is individualized based on the client’s needs. Overall, she takes a strengths-based approach, has a warm style, and utilizes humor in sessions.

She has experience working with trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders/disordered eating with adults, LGBTQIA+ issues, bipolar disorder, adjustment issues, interpersonal and relationships issues, stress management, communication skills, grief, and self-esteem/body image issues. She has been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and utilizes a multitude of other training and therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused, and Motivational Interviewing.

In her spare time, Cait enjoys spending time with her cat, family, and friends. She loves crocheting and taking care of her numerous indoor and outdoor plants. She also enjoys crafting, playing video games, and reading.
