Bronia Alashkar, LPC | Counselor Supervisee

Bronia is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (she/her) with a Master’s degree from The University of Akron, OH. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She was born and raised in Syria, where she graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Damascus as a medical doctor, then immigrated to the U.S where she worked as a research coordinator at CWRU.

She began her clinical counseling experience as an Intensive Outpatient Therapist at Highland Springs, a mental and substance abuse hospital in Cleveland, OH. There, she worked mostly with adults who struggled with dual diagnoses. She then moved on to work in Humanistic Counseling, serving a diverse population and a variety of diagnoses. Bronia’s therapeutic approach is individualized and client-centered where motivational interviewing and empathic understanding are the focus.

She has experience working with trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, disordered eating with adults, LGBTQIA+ issues, bipolar disorder, adjustment issues, interpersonal and relationships issues, stress management, communication skills, grief, and self-esteem/body image issues.

 

She has been trained in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Schema Therapy (ST), as well as Trauma-Focused informed Therapy (TFIT). Bronia is fluent in English and Arabic.

In her spare time, Bronia enjoys spending time with her rescue cat, Leo, and her rescue dog, Azal. Bronia enjoys Middle Eastern cooking and loves sharing her food with family and friends. She enjoys dancing, yoga, travel, and reading.
